Hickory’s Story

Hickory is complete. I would like to share his story through the words of his friend, Pattie Ann who asked me to do his portrait. “This is my friend Hickory. He's a three year old St. Bernard and the love of my friends Colleen Bruske and Rachel Bruske’s lives. He's got an inoperable tumor in his jaw. He will be crossing the Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday. Hickory is more then just a dog, he's a lesson about love. He was found wandering the streets and in bad shape (someone thought to use him for target practice with a pellet gun). Colleen rescued him and gave him a home with lots of love. It would be so easy for Hickory to be angry and want to take a chunk of your head off. Not this guy, he just wants belly rubs and an ear rub. And there is the lesson in love and forgiveness. I believe that these two souls were meant to find each other. Two souls that helped each other heal some wounds. And that is part of what love is.” #teamhickory It was my honor to do your portrait, sweet boy. May you be forever at peace.
